You will never know how it feels to have a pet or lose one until you do so yourself. People might feel that a person who talks with their cats or does something stupid with their dogs is crazy. Some might say something like “Your dog doesn’t understand what you are saying, why you’re doing that?”. Some might say that people who lost their pets are being overdramatic, with their depression and sadness.
Saying something like that makes sense for them because they don’t understand the pet owners. Moreover, they won’t understand until they have a pet of their own. Then, they will understand. They will understand the feeling of missing your pet and wanting to come home early to see them, the feeling of watching them eating for hours without getting bored, and the feeling of constantly talking to their pets even though they know that it doesn’t understand them. Having a pet makes you think. It makes you worry, makes you happy, makes you sad, and makes you angry. Having a pet makes you alive.
They’re not just pets. They’re companions, friends, souls. For some people, their pet means their life. And, when they lose their pet, it’s like the whole world collapsed on them. The best thing in their life has been taken away, their joy, their happiness, their emotions. It’s normal that a person could look like the happiest person in the world with their pet, and the saddest without them. The feeling a person could have for their pets is more than can be explained in words. Eventually, only the one who understands will understand.
